Ch Lamartine 2018 Expression 14%, Famille Gayraud
best clay-limestone parcel planted with 100 yr+ Malbec, made since 1996
Dark, saturated black red
Warm, meaty, bloody aromas — a very clay nose. Some might say reductive but it isn’t; almost an incense note, too. Let’s give it time and see how it develops in the glass.
Intense, pure, driving fruit, again very much that stocky clay style but with finesse, too, and great length. Poised, teased acidity provides ample focus, and the tannins are svelte and fine.. Excellent.
Does have oak from different sources but totally absorbed and successful. Third terrace. Great grace and poise. Very damson sloe
